Wind Power Stations - Advantages and Disadvantages

Because of global warming threats, new energy resources are looking into hopefully in order to reverse effects global warming has already been placed on world population.

Wind energy is one such way has been developed to generate energy by more natural means during the last few years. Wind is a natural phenomenon has given to people. So, why not try to utilize this natural energy and use it in our everyday activities. Wind power stations have been built in many countries to see if it could be an alternative method to develop mega amounts of energy for a lesser cost while saving the environment at the same time.

The advantage of wind power stations have been seen so far is it’s an extremely environmentally friendly way to generate energy we need without having use fossil fuels or other environmentally unsafe materials. Wind turbines occupy lesser space than traditional power stations.

Because of wind power stations use wind to generate energy, they cost much less to run. Wind is free, so nothing extra costs are spends exploiting a natural energy source. The wind energy savings could better spend elsewhere.

It is much easier to generate energy by wind power stations in more distant areas, then the power stations normally use. They could be built at remote places such as mountain areas and huge vast countryside areas.

If you combine wind energy with solar energy, small developing countries or areas could benefit of constant electricity source wind turbines could provide. With the high cost to build and exploit electrical power stations, the smaller under developed countries don’t have enough money to provide their people with such luxury as electricity.

Together with advantages of wind energy problems comes as well. Unfortunately, the disadvantage of using wind power stations is a fact that we have to rely on wind to power the energy but wind isn’t always available. It’s not always easy to predict when wind would be available to use. There are areas where wind strength is way too low to supply energy necessary to run the wind turbines. There is why solar power would have to be used in conjunction with the wind power.

Wind energy provides enough power to a certain point depending on the wind available to run turbines. We cannot generate more wind to run turbines if more energy is needed. There are just more fuel would be burned to supply the extra energy needed by electrical power stations.

As been known, wind power stations could take over a year to construct and could be very costly to build on the designated area. Some nature’s environment would have to be sacrificed in order to put these wind turbines up for use in some cases.

Unfortunately, noise bring with the wind turbines is comparable with a small jet engine, so it could be extremely annoying to those who live within a few hundred meters from these massive engines. Predominantly the noise isn’t noticeable when most of population lives much far away.

The massive wind turbines need to be placed within the countryside so the majority of the population lives nearby usually protests against the fact some natural environment would have to be sacrificed in order to put them up. The protesting people feel it ruins the look of countryside.

So, wind energy power stations are a major asset to the economy and atmosphere. Wind energy does have its drawbacks but with the future testing and development those problems will be resolved in an environmentally friendly way.
